About the School
LaSalle II is a new magnet school in the Chicago Public Schools System with a focus on World Languages. Currently serving Pre-K through Sixth Grade, additional grades will be added in the coming school years.
LaSalle II is a replication school, designed to emulate the successful program offered at the LaSalle Language Academy. LaSalle II currently offers students the opportunity to acquire proficiency in Chinese, Spanish, Arabic and Urdu, and other languages are being added as the school grows. The program began in September 2008, serving Pre-K through sixth grade, and has expanded through Sixth grade for the 2009-10 school year. Additional grades will be added each year until the school serves up to eighth grade.
“The new magnet schools allow parents in the various communities to have more options as to the type of school their children attend,” said Frazier, grants manager for the CPS Office of Academic Enhancement, “These schools extend the types of curriculum that are offered and allow parents to find the best educational fit for their child based on interest.” *
Parents and students interested in the new magnet schools for the 2010-2011 school year may submit applications until December 18, 2009. Students are randomly selected for available spaces through a computerized lottery. For more information, contact the Chicago Public Schools Office of Academic Enhancement at (773) 553-2060. *
